Installation

  1. Log into your JIRA instance as an admin.
  2. Click the admin dropdown and choose Add-ons. The Find new add-ons screen loads.
  3. Locate Usage Statistics.
  4. Click Install to download and install your add-on.
  5. You're all set! Click Close in the Installed and ready to go dialog.

You will see the usage statistics graph on each issue in your JIRA. The graph is located in the right sidebar. It shows how often the issue has been viewed by providing a chart with several timescales:

The project usage statistic is available on each JIRA project. You will find it in the overview section described by the name "Usage Statistics". Here you see the most viewed issues of this project grouped by one hour, one day, one year and overall. The issues will be displayed as a bar chart that shows the viewcount per issue. Only the top 20 issues will be displayed per chart. Hovering the bars will open a little popup with additional information. Clicking a bar will forward you to the specific issue.

See all issues per timescale

To see more than 20 issues per chart simply click on the "Most viewed issues..." heading above each chart. It will forward you to the issue navigator with all results. Here you are able to specify your search.

The usage statistics data is reachable via JQL. The following data is available to narrow your search:

issue.property[usagestatistic].year - The year of the last view of the issue. Example: 2014
issue.property[usagestatistic].month - The month of the last view of the issue. Valid values are numbers from 1 to 12.
issue.property[usagestatistic].day - The day of the last view of the issue. Valid values are numbers from 1 to 31. 
issue.property[usagestatistic].hour - The hour of the last view of the issue. Valid values are numbers from 1 to 23. 
issue.property[usagestatistic].views-y -  The number of views for the year
issue.property[usagestatistic].views-m -  The number of views for the month
issue.property[usagestatistic].views-d -  The number of views for the day
issue.property[usagestatistic].views-h -  The number of views for the hour
issue.property[usagestatistic].views -  The total number of views
