Sign into Jira Cloud

When the app is used for the first time the user will have to sign into Jira Cloud. This ensures that all relevant data can be requested live and in the context of the current user.

Consent Jira access

Starting the authentication process will launch a new window where you have to sign-in with your Atlassian account and consent the applications permissions. Detailed information about the scope of each permission can be reviewed by expanding the according section.

Info

Your are able to revoke these permissions at any time. See https://support.atlassian.com/security-and-access-policies/docs/manage-your-users-third-party-apps/ for further information.

To proceed with the authorization process, you need to select one of the available sites from the list.

Info

It is just possible to consent one Jira site at a time. Consenting multiple Jira sites requires you to perform the sign-in again for each site.

See https://communardo-products.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SOFIA/pages/106070017/Authenticate+to+Jira+Cloud#Switch-to-another-Jira-site

Authentication result

Once the authentication process is finished you will see your result on the next page. After successfull connection you can close the window to start using our app.

Now you are ready to start by editing the web part settings and select the issues you want to show.

Switch to another Jira site

In case you have multiple Jira sites available for your account and you want to switch to another site you are able to do so through the “Jira Sites” section in the webpart properties.

Here you can switch the selection between already consented Jira sites. In case the site is not consented yet you are able to add another Jira site, which will trigger the sign-in process explained above.

Info

Switching the Jira site will clear other filters like the Selected Jira issues, but will retain the JQL query which was previously entered.
In order to view results from the newly selected site a search needs to be performed through the Search button.

License your Jira Site

After you connected the first time to your Jira Site, you will see a message to license the product.

To license the product the SharePoint site collection administrator must add an entitlement number for the app under the selected site. This number is used to verify the license status of the product. Users without sufficient permissions are only capable to see the license status. The entitlement number for the product can be found in your Jira Site under Manage Apps.

The License is bound to your Jira Site, where you installed the SharePoint Connector for Jira. This means your are able to use the product in every SharePoint tenant you want but can only connect the one Jira Site. If you want to use also other sites, you will have to buy a separate license.

Info

Be aware that it could take some hours to update the license status for new purchased products. You are still able to add the license in the WebPart and we will revalidate your license status automatically from time to time.

After the validation succeeded you are able to use the app. This configuration has to be done only once per Jira Site. If other users add a new WebPart, they could use it directly without reconnecting to the Jira Site. They could select the Jira Site they want and start to link Jira issues.
