Data Storage (Cloud)

This page gives some details about how the navigation configuration is stored by the SubSpace Navigation app.

How data is stored

The SubSpace app will create a new space in your Confluence Cloud system upon installation. This space is titled “Communardo Products and has the space key COMMUNARDOPRODUCTS. The space contains a page named “Navigation Configuration” which is the page where we store the configuration data for the Navigation Menu. Data is saved within a hidden “Page Properties” macro.

Confluence users have read permission to this page, but only users in groups with admin access have edit permission to the page.

Only users in these groups are able to change the navigation bar structure; they have edit permission to the “Navigation Configuration” page. Such users see the configuration icon at the navigation bar, which will open the dialogue for updating the structure.

On the other hand, only users with reading permissions to this “Navigation Configuration” page are able to see the top navigation bar.

Since the SubSpace Navigation app assumes this setup, we recommend that you:

  • have at least one group with admin access

  • do not delete this space or page

  • do not change the permissions of space or page manually
