Authentication Configuration Questionnaire (v 1.0)

Here are a few questions that can help you figure out which authentication configuration option is the best fit for you.

1. Are you going to use Active Directory as a user account repository in Confluence? Note that you may use AD as a user account repository in Sharepoint, but not in Confluence.
If the answer is 'yes', continue.
If the answer is 'no', skip to CONFEXT:Question 6.
2. In Confluence, are you going to use only AD user accounts, or also user accounts from another repository, e.g. Confluence internal user repository?
If the answer is 'only AD user accounts', continue.
If the answer is 'not only AD user accounts', skip to CONFEXT:Question 6.
3. Do you use IIS to host your Web applications?
If the answer is 'yes', use IIS + Tomcat on Confluence. Then, please continue to the next question.
If the answer is 'no', use JCIFS on Confluence. Then, please continue to the next question.
4. Are there any users who are unable to use NTLM? This situation can happen when some users do not use Windows.
If the answer is 'yes', skip to CONFEXT:Question 6.
If the answer is 'no', continue.
5. Do you want to enable anonymous access on Confluence?
If the answer is 'yes', please review NTLM and Anonymous Access.
If the answer is 'no', the authentication configuration ends here.
6. Do you have MOSS installed?
If the answer is 'yes', use MOSS SSO authentication.
If the answer is 'no', use normal cookie authentication. In that case, please read about the broken image link issue.
